About Bled e-conference

Bled eConference has been shaping electronic interactions since 1988. It attracts speakers and delegates from business, government, information technology providers and universities and is the major venue for researchers working in all aspects of “e”.

The conference venue is the Alpine village of Bled, 30 km south of the Austrian border – one of the most beautiful spots imaginable. Expect to learn and play and come away feeling that you have achieved more than you normally would at any conference.

With fresh ideas and complementary themes we would like to establish a creative environment for researchers, government, industry/business representatives and technology providers and an attractive meeting point for discussing new R&D and project ideas, also in the spirit of new Horizon 2020.

Digital Forum

Bled eConference has been shaping electronic interactions since 1988. Its community aims to actively contribute in shaping of economic and social growth, as well as raising wellbeing of citizens around the world. In 2004, Bled eConference issued the Bled Manifesto “Electronic commerce”. Setting the agenda for economic and social growth”. The Manifesto aimed in helping national leaders shape economic and social growth policy for exploiting e-commerce opportunities.

In the years after, the evolution of digital technologies and solutions (e.g. Internet of things, artificial intelligence and advanced machine learning, virtual and augmented reality, big data & analytics, high performance computing, service architecture, digital technology platforms, 3D printing, robotics etc …) has significantly impacted on the way how business is conducted and had big implications on our lives. Digital economy calls for transformation of businesses, governments, education and societies.

The theme of the 2017 Bled eConference is Digital Transformation – From Connecting Things to Transforming Our Lives. In the occasion of 30th anniversary, the Bled eConference community will continue with its activity called “Digital forum”. The digital forum brings together representatives of business, governments, education, ICT providers and societies with the responsibility of addressing challenges of digital economy and society.

The digital forum will be organized in a “world cafe” format and will be organized on Monday, June 19, 2017 at 14:00 (Hotel Golf, Bled). The result of the digital forum will be a new manifesto with recommended actions for achieving better economic and social growth and higher wellbeing of citizens around the world.

Panel on Awareness raising campaign for the modernisation of Europe's industry

Let’s meet and talk about technological transformation and how it can benefit EU businesses!

From the Internet of Things, Mobile Solutions, Deep Learning and Big Data Analytics, to Advanced Materials and Nanotechnologies, Industrial Biotechnology, 3D Printing and Robotics, and many more… Digital & Key Enabling Technologies matter to the European Economy because they enable the development of a wide range of advanced products and services. Imagine low-carbon energy solutions, resource-efficient manufacturing, or new medical products, just to mention a few.

Based on this promising perspective, the WATIFY campaign raises awareness about the Digital Transformation of industry and enterprises, in particular SMEs, as well as the implementation of the European strategy to boost the industrial deployment of Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) in Europe. Aimed at boosting technological transformation through digitisation and the uptake of advanced technologies, WATIFY also brings together regional / local stakeholders to help them translate their policies and priorities in KETs and digital transformation in projects and initiatives.

The Bled eConference is an extremely appropriate context for our WATIFY meeting to take place. A short presentation will open the session, providing examples of successful digital transformation initiatives, how it can bring business opportunities to companies and regions and how interested parties can benefit from the WATIFY initiative. Participants will be encouraged to talk about their own digital situation, discuss how to overcome transformation challenges and identify possible collaborations.
